BLOODHOUND SSC Senior Hydraulics Engineer/Technician – Position Available

What’s the opportunity?

We are looking for an experienced hydraulics technician/engineer who can implement, test and give strong input back into the design side of the hydraulic Systems within the Bloodhound land speed record supersonic car. It would be advantageous if the individual also had familiarity with electrical systems and would be able to feed into the electronics and wiring team requirements from the hydraulics systems. We are looking for someone who could start without delay in the vicinity of Avonmouth, Bristol, UK.

What will you be doing?

  • Build and Test of Hydraulic Systems.
  • Refinement of the Hydraulic System and feed back into the design team.
  • Management of BOM’s and relationships with suppliers.
  • Other related systems work.

Who and what we are looking for from you?

  • You will ideally have a large amount of experience with implementing hydraulic systems and be able to conduct the debugging of these systems.
  • You will have significant experience feeding back test results to Hydraulics Design Engineers.
  • You will be familiar with working with engineers from other disciplines and have the ability to take ownership and management of the development of Hydraulic systems.
  • It would be desirable, but not essential for your experience to have been gained in automotive, aerospace.
  • You will favour a collaborative, open approach to development. Strong communication skills and the ability to take initiative are essential.
  • You will have significant experience with managing BOM’s and required support equipment for hydraulic systems.
  • It is desirable that you have experience with Matlab and Simulink.
  • It is desirable that you have experience with electrical diagrams.
  • It is desirable for you to help maintain relationships with Project sponsors.

You will demonstrate the following behaviours:

  • You must be self-motivated and willing to teach yourself if the knowledge is not available internally.
  • You must be willing to be involved and work with other disciplines, we are a small team and everyones opinion counts.
  • You must be dynamic and willing to stretch yourself in an extremely demanding project.
