BLOODHOUND SSC Electronics Engineer – Position Available

What’s the opportunity?

We are looking for an electronics engineer with Analog PCB design experience and familiarity with power systems to help finish the build of the Bloodhound land speed record attempt supersonic car. It would be advantageous to also have electrical harness design experience. We are looking for someone who could start without delay in the vicinity of Avonmouth, Bristol, UK.

What will you be doing?

  • Analog PCB design for sensor conditioning.
  • DC and AC power system design.
  • Input into PCB build and packaging of PCB’s
  • Other related systems work.

  • You will be joining a team that develops the software and systems that will run in the fastest car on the planet. You will be exposed to state-of-the-art jet engine and rocket systems and have the opportunity to have significant input into the car’s design and systems.

Who and what we are looking for from you?

  • You will ideally have a good degree in Electronic Engineering, Engineering or Science related subject combined with significant experience in the design, build and packaging of PCB’s.  You will have been responsible for finding solutions to potentially complex problems and will be comfortable working with engineers from other disciplines. It would be desirable, but not essential for your experience to have been gained in automotive, aerospace, telecoms or consumer electronics.
  • You will favour a collaborative, open approach to development. Strong communication skills and the ability to take initiative are essential.
  • You will have significant previous experience with Analog circuit design.
  • You will have significant previous experience with DC and AC power systems.
  • It is desirable that you have experience with electrical harness design.
  • It is desirable that you have experience with using Git repositories.
  • It is desirable that you are familiar with Matlab.
  • It is desirable for you to help maintain relationships with Project sponsors.

You will demonstrate the following behaviours:

  • You must be self-motivated and willing to teach yourself if the knowledge is not available internally.
  • You must be willing to be involved in and work with other disciplines. We are a small team and everyone's opinion counts.
  • You must be dynamic and willing to stretch yourself in an extremely demanding project.
